San Francisco Suicide Prevention’s Crisis Support Textlines are here to provide emotional support. They are FREE, 100% confidential, available 24/7 and staffed by trained volunteers.

Our goal is to help anyone who is experiencing crisis and needs emotional support. The Crisis Support Textlines expand our ability to provide support. These text-specific lines provides the same support as our phone service. Texters are allowed to use this line once a day and it can be accessed any time. Counselors may suggest an individual calls in to receive additional support.

ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By initiating contact with San Francisco Suicide Prevention’s Textline program you are agreeing to all listed terms and conditions, and are certifying knowledge to the service’s privacy policy. If you have further questions regarding use of this service, please contact sfsuicide@felton.org. You may opt out of use at any time by texting “END” to the service number.

CHANGES TO TERMS AND CONDITIONS

From time to time, we may use website visitor information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will post the policy changes to our website, notify and provide you with the ability to opt out of these new uses. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our website periodically.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

RISKS OF USE

The user of any Textline assumes all risk for use. San Francisco Suicide Prevention does not assume responsibility for any actions taken due to use of any textline. Counselors answering queries on our textlines are not trained medical professionals, and not operating as such. Our Textlines are not considered a replacement or proxy for professional medical care.

Access to the service is limited by counselor availability. There is no maximum wait time until a user will receive a response from a counselor. In the case of a crisis or emergency, please call 911.

PROHIBITED USES OF SERVICE

Under specific circumstances, users will be restricted from access to any SFSP Textline. This occurs after initiation of pre-specified unapproved uses, including:

  • Anything that may violate local, state, federal, or international laws
  • Abuse or harassment of service providers
  • Abuse or harassment of third parties
  • Exploitation or abuse of minors, elders, or dependent adults
  • Any interference with the successful operation of the program, including but not limited to excessive contact, spamming, or flooding the service

LIMITS OF USE

Every user of any Textline is permitted up to one conversation per day, the length of the conversation to be determined by counselors.

PRIVACY STATEMENT 

At San Francisco Suicide Prevention, your privacy and security are important to us. We will not share or disclose any information provided by you to a third party. However, San Francisco Suicide Prevention cannot guarantee protection from internet intruders or interceptors. Additionally, we reserve the right to disclose relevant personal information to the authorities at our discretion and as required by law. By continuing this conversation, you agree to use this service and text us at your own risk. You agree that San Francisco Suicide Prevention has no liability regarding unauthorized access to this service by a third party.
