San Francisco Suicide Prevention offers a number of programs for survivors.
Grief Support Groups: We provide eight week peer led (not clinical) support groups for people who have lost a loved one to suicide. These groups offer a safe and non-judgmental space to share experiences, and listen to other survivors. For information about our grief groups, contact Lilyana Gonzales Hudson at email@example.com or call 415/288-7105
What is peer support? “Peer support is a system of giving and receiving help founded on key principles of respect, shared responsibility, and mutual agreement of what is helpful. Peer support is not based on psychiatric models and diagnostic criteria. It is about understanding another’s situation empathically through the shared experience.” (Sherry Mead, 2001)
Current Session: Monday Nights, February through April
Next Session: Starting April 2014
Drop in Support Group: The drop in group is for survivors that have completed the SFSP six or eight week group only and would like to stay connect with other survivors throughout the year.
Next Drop In Group: Monday April 14, 2014, 6pm-7:30
